1) Samson & Goliath
Goliath was erected in 1969 at 96 metres tall and Samson in 1974 at 106 metres tall. Now monuments that add to the Belfast skyline.
2) Prince Albert Clock (Leaning tower of Belfast)
Queen Victoria visited Belfast in 1849, the clock tower is the location in which she disembarked. In memory of her husband Prince Albert she had the clock tower assembled in 1849.
3) Belfast City Hall
City Hall was completed in 1906 after Belfast was awarded city status in 1888. The Green dome in the centre of City Hall is 53 metres tall.
Did you know? Durban City Hall in South Africa is almost an exact replica of Belfast City Hall.
4) Scrabo Tower
Scrabo Tower stands 160 metres above sea level and is 38 metres tall. The Tower was built as a memorial to Charles Stewart the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry, known as ‘Fighting Charlie’. The family resided in the beautiful ‘Mount Stewart’.
5) Stormont Parliament Buildings
The Stormont Building was originally opened in 1932. The building was used by the RAF during the Second World War. It is now Home of the Northern Ireland assembly which was established in 1998.
